Prompt 21 - Mask

Sirius watched as Remus joked with Lily, their laughter filling the common room. They were squashed into one of the window seats, Remus’s long legs bent around Lily so he would fit. Lily didn’t seem to mind, leaning happily against them to give Remus as much room as she could. They had a book between them and kept flicking to different pages before passing it to the other to read and then peals of laughter sounded again. 

In a lull of their excitement, Remus looked over at Sirius and blushed when he caught the other boy watching him. Sirius let the mask his mother had forced him to create to protect himself from her and other painful things, slide onto his face as he hid his true emotions from his best friend. He gave him a small half smile that didn’t meet his cold, lifeless eyes before turning his attention to the book he hadn’t been reading in his lap. 

“Hey, Pads, you alright?” James asked, ruffling his hair as he plonked himself down on the sofa next to Sirius. Sirius’s hand went straight to his hair as he tried to undo the chaos James had caused. 

“Fine,” He grumbled. James reached over and gently grasped his chin, turning his face to look at it. 

“Oh, Sirius, take that off,” He ordered sadly. Sirius screwed his eyes shut and concentrated until the darkness slid away. “That’s better,” James crooned as Sirius’s grey eyes softened. Remus and Lily’s laughter rang out again and Sirius’s eyes snapped across the room. “Pads, you really need to stop mooning over Moony and just tell him already,” James said softly. Sirius yanked his chin free from James’s fingers and gathered his things together. 

“I can’t risk our friendship, Prongs, it’s too important.” Sadness coloured his words. He glanced one last time at the pair in the window and headed out of the portrait. He didn’t know where he was going, but all he knew was he needed to be away from Remus before he did something stupid.

Lily: ..okay, im feeling some undertones

Marlene: I’ve had some pretty bad wishes icl..

Remus: cause have you ever had a bad thought though, like ‘I wish I was dead’ or something?

James: or like you wish you could disappear?

Mary: exactly

Peter: ..no.

Sirius: I try to think positive..

Dorcas, Barty, Evan & Regulus: [who just wanted to stop by] . . .

Remus introduces James to Football...

Remus: *pointing to the T.V. screen as he explains the games rules*

James: You mean to tell me, that people run for hours around a lawn chasing a ball to a net on the opposite end for fun?

Remus: It's kind of like quidditch.

James: *offended* Let me tell you, flying is nothing like running...you understand? And we have more than one ball ! It's way more fun when you have more than one ball. I will never! Ever! Play football which is a mockery to a poor imitation of quidditch!

Remus (who doesn't care much for sports anyways) : Jeez...OK

Later

Regulus: *Casually mentions having a crush on a Ronaldo as a child because Sirius "forced" him to watch muggle sports*

Later

James to Remus (on his knees) : I beg you to teach me about the ways of this so called muggle sport which you refer to as football. Take my soul but make me a master of this art! I can't lose the love of my life to this game.

Remus (pushing James away and running away): I don't play football James!

James (chasing Remus in near tears): Moooonyyy Stooppp!

I don’t know if anyone else thinks this, but I can 100% see the Marauders playing Roblox.

I’m sure we can all agree that Barty bullies kids while he’s playing, so in my mind, one time he joined a game and saw two people having a full-on argument. One of them was obviously, like, a seven-year-old, and the other - not so obvious to Barty… Sirius Black. Because Sirius would absolutely get into heated arguments on Roblox.

One time, Barty and Sirius were playing together—from their respective common rooms—while Regulus watched, trying to understand “the appeal of playing a children’s game.” As he watched Barty play with his “online best friend,” Regulus began to wonder who this person actually was. Later, when he was talking with Remus (platonic Moonwater!), he asked if Sirius played Roblox. Remus replied:

“Yeah, all the time. He’s gotten James and Peter to join him. Marlene, too. Why?”

Now, Regulus has to come to terms with the fact that his brother is unknowingly best friends with one of his best friends.

I can also totally picture all of them gaming together in their common rooms. In the Gryffindor common room: Remus and Sirius cuddling - Remus is reading or sleeping because he refuses to play. Marlene is sitting with Dorcas, the two of them sharing one device. Peter and James are playing with Mary peering over their shoulders, debating whether she should start playing too.

And in the Slytherin common room: Barty is gaming with Evan beside him or cuddling with him, Regulus is reading across from them, and Pandora is next to Barty, learning to play because it’s her first time.

Also, you can’t tell me that Minnie hasn’t, possibly on multiple occasions, burst into the Gryffindor common room after hearing screams expecting a fight or a party, only to find out it was just Sirius screaming over Dress to Impress.

Gryffindor Witches' Dormitory - Balcony Lounge

One of my favorite things about the Gryffindor witches dormitory is not only the bathrooms but also THE MORE SPACIOUS BALCONY LOUNGE!! HAHAHA is this benevolent sexism?? 😂

And i can't help but come up with a headcanon that there used to be a time when Gryffindor boys would clear a disagreement with a duel, the girls would watch at the balcony 👀😂

Prompt 25 - Spooky

Part 1

Remus watched as Sirius fled the common room. He’d looked over, and Sirius had caught him looking. Remus had blushed profusely, and Sirius’s face had gone cold, but he’d still given him a small smile that had made butterflies dance in his stomach. Then James had plonked himself down, and Sirius gave him his attention. 

“Merlin, Remus, could you be any more obvious?” Lily startled him out of his tangled thoughts. 

“Huh? What?” Her words sunk in, and he gulped. It was spooky how Lily could figure things out. He’d never told another living soul about his infatuation with his best friend. 

“Just follow my lead and do what I do,” She said, bursting into laughter. Remus copied her. “Just tell him already. I swear he feels the same way about you,” Lily said, her finger pointing at a passage in the book they’d been sharing. Remus’s heart fluttered, but he didn’t get his hopes up. 

“No, he doesn’t,” He said sadly. Lily prodded him in the knee.

“Yes, he does. I am never wrong,” She proclaimed, crossing her arms over her chest. That made Remus laugh for real and Lily joined in. 

He saw Sirius move out of the corner of his eye. It looked like he couldn’t get out of there fast enough, his head low, which was very unlike Sirius. “Go after him. I promise you won’t regret it,” Lily urged, all but shoving him off the window ledge. 

With some effort, Remus unfurled his long legs from the tight space and hopped down. He raced across the common room, ignoring James’s words of concern, and followed after Sirius, hoping that Lily was right and he wasn’t about to ruin one of his best friendships.

I can imagine how the marauders would be sitting together in the common room, all cuddled up together by the fireplace

Pete and Moony would be in the middle, Pete’s head resting on Moony‘s shoulder.

James would be lying with his head in Pete’s lap and Sirius would be lying with his head in Moony‘s lap.
